As a regional processor, marketer and distributor of poultry and poultry products, Irvine’s Zimbabwe continuously strives to ensure that poultry and poultry products intended for human consumption are produced, stored, handled and distributed in a manner that eliminates or minimises food hazards which may infringe on the health of consumers. Irvine’s Zimbabwe therefore operates a management system based on the requirements of the international standard ISO 22000:2005, with which management and all personnel are committed to comply at all times. To achieve these goals, our food safety management system is supported by the following objectives:

  • To ensure that product leaving the processing plant is safe for human consumption by reducing, eliminating or preventing hazards through the implementation of Pre-requisite Programs (PRPs),incorporating Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and managing a comprehensive Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) system.
  • To continually improve the level of customer satisfaction and confidence by actively seeking feedback on product quality and safety.
  • To always comply with and implement policies that meet current relevant legal, religious, statutory and regulatory requirements as well as mutually agreed food safety requirements of customers.
  • To establish, and always maintain effective communication channels with stakeholders in the food chain to ensure that sufficient information on issues concerning food safety is available at all times.
  • To review the FSMS at planned intervals to ensure its continuing suitability, adequacy and effectiveness.
  • To ensure provision of adequate resources for the establishment, implementation and maintenance of the FSMS through training of all personnel whose activities have an impact on food safety and establishing and maintaining the necessary infrastructure and the work environment needed to implement the requirements of the ISO 22000:2005 standard.
  • To achieve all the above in a manner that keeps cost of production under control, and ensures profitability at all times
